Your BMI sits in the commonly referenced healthy range. Training quality, strength, recovery, sleep, and consistency still matter beyond this number.

What is BMI?

BMI, or body mass index, is a simple screening number that compares your body weight with your height. It is often used to estimate whether an adult is in an underweight, healthy weight, overweight, or obesity range.

BMI is useful because it is quick and easy to calculate, but it is not a complete picture of fitness, health, strength, or body composition.

How BMI is calculated

The standard metric BMI formula is:

BMI = weightKg / ((heightCm / 100) ** 2)

For example, a person who weighs 75 kg and is 175 cm tall has a BMI of about 24.5. The calculator above uses the same formula and rounds the result to one decimal place.

BMI categories

BMI rangeCategory

25.0 to 29.9Overweight

Limitations of BMI

BMI does not measure body fat percentage, muscle mass, waist circumference, bone density, or fitness performance. A muscular athlete can have a high BMI without having excess body fat, while someone in the healthy range may still need better strength, conditioning, or recovery habits.

Treat BMI as a broad starting point. For individual health decisions, combine it with other measures and speak with a qualified professional when needed.

How NoxaFit can help beyond BMI

NoxaFit is built to go beyond one number. It helps you structure workouts, track progress, adapt training around recovery, and stay consistent whether your goal is muscle gain, fat loss, strength, or better gym habits.

BMI FAQ

Common BMI calculator questions.

What is a healthy BMI?
A healthy BMI is commonly considered to be between 18.5 and 24.9 for adults, but it should be interpreted alongside strength, body composition, health history, and fitness goals.
Is BMI accurate for muscular people?
BMI can be less accurate for muscular people because it does not separate muscle mass from body fat. Athletes and strength-focused lifters may have a higher BMI while still having a healthy body composition.
Can BMI tell me my body fat percentage?
No. BMI estimates weight relative to height, but it does not measure body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone density, or fat distribution.
How often should I check my BMI?
Checking BMI every few weeks or months is usually enough for general tracking. Daily changes are not useful because BMI is best treated as a broad trend, not a precise performance metric.
What should I do after calculating my BMI?
Use your BMI as a starting point, then focus on a realistic training plan, progress tracking, recovery, nutrition habits, and health markers that match your personal goal.
